Unity is important in the Bible. How good and pleasant it is when brothers and sisters live and work together in unity. What a blessing
unity is, and when not protected, how easily lost. Unity among Christians is one of God’s greatest
gifts. Disunity among Christians is one of the devil’s greatest
plagues; he is the
only one who profits from disunity.
So it’s no surprise the devil works like mad to destroy unity. Luther pictures the devil as
lighting one fire after another in the church, so that our time is
spent putting out fires rather than making disciples of all the nations. And you can be sure the devil is at work here too, at Good Shepherd, starting little fires here and there to fragment our unity, thereby fragmenting our witness to this community.
The Bible teaches that God is our Father. We are compelled, then, to think of one another as brothers and sisters in Christ. But we have different styles, different backgrounds, different educations, different priorities.
It doesn’t take much for the devil to ignite arguments. The temptation is to think of a brother or sister in Christ as our opponent, an enemy, a villain, someone who is out to get us, someone who (we’re convinced) is sprouting little horns. In the church, people have
demonized one another over the color of the carpet. In every congregation, holy wars have been fought over
trivial matters. And so there is disunity among God’s people.
All that is summed up in two words. Spiritual warfare. With reference to the area of disunity. Do you think its the devil causing us to feel the way we feel about other people, or is it a personal choice of how we feel? the devil can cause us to feel a certain way about somebody subconsiously i guess, but i mean if we are given the freedom of choice won't we be given the prerogative to decide how we want to relate to certain people, whether to put up with them, whether to ignore them, whether to avoid them, whether to entertain them. maybe as a whole we're playing the waiting game, a game of waiting to see who will try to resolve the disunity. i would really like to know what your thoughts are on the above. tagit! =)
On an alternate plane, i woke up late today was supposed to meet andrea at 1pm but only woke up at 12.45, if my mum didnt wake me up, i think i would have been down super duper late... oh oooo. sorry andrea. a million apologies(so easy to give a million here).
Yeps, then had meet the parents from 2.30-5.30. Turnout wasnt as good as i expected it to be. not sure y, maybe because of the timing. etc. There was a big booboo when they played the wrong video!!!!! zzzz. like my video was played prematurely and was really veryveryvery malu lor... like people heard the song(vertical horizen-forever) then nothing came out on the screen. Then when the picture appeared, they realised it was the wrong video!!!!! what was worst was when they stopped it and tried to find the mission trip video, they played the tribute video again!!!! LOL. but it was ok la, the qna sessions was abit kam la. questions were asked like "could megalife service could be moved back to sunday morning so that youths can follow their parents. etc".
After that left from home to rest abit before heading to my uncles house for my grandauntie's birthday. There was a feast man! sharks fin, flower crab, pork knuckles, chicken something, lobster noodles. haha. but i didnt eat much.
halfway through the dinner i got a call from randolf. told me the guys wanted to meet. and like alot of peeps so was prob gonna play cs. so agreed to meet them at 10pm. so drove to princep street. SO FORTUNATE. got parking after just waiting for like 5mins. then the guys arrived shortly after. to my dismay only 7 of them came so like only 4vs4 for cs. boring sia, played about 2hrs before leaving the joint. I SUCKED TODAY MAN. i think it was the comp. all of us decided to go home, so got into our cars. funny thing. we drove a couple of blocks down and got stuck at the traffic light, then roy wound down the windscreen and asked us wanna chiong somemore or not. haha. so we decided to go to katong, reached there and ate chicken porridge and some youtiao. Had some crazy talks like old times, then headed to katong shopping centre to play number ball. Seans really good man!. anyway, just reached home and need to sleep... zzzzz
