The Mission - Steve Green

There's a call going out across the land in every nation
A call to all who swear allegiance to the cross of Christ
A call to true humility, to live our lives responsibly
To deepen our devotion to the cross at any price

Let us then be sober moving only in his spirit
As aliens and strangers in a hostile foreign land
The message we're proclaiming is repentance and forgiveness
The offer of salvation to the dying race of man

Chorus:
To love the Lord our God is the heartbeat of our mission
The spring from which our service overflows
Across the street or around the world
The mission's still the same
Proclaim and live the truth in Jesus's name

As a candle is consumed by the passion of the flame
Spilling light unsparingly throughout a darkened room
Let us burn to know him deeper then
Our service flaming bright
Will radiate His passions and blaze with holy light

Just got back from M3 prayer meeting. The key focus for tonight was compassion, compassion for the lost. Then somehow, the song above just kept ringing in my head again and again. I first heard this song like in 1998 back in secondary two. Woah, thats goes way back like 7 years. The heartbeat of our mission, is to love the lord our god. Without loving him, there's no mission to even start, or to pursue. sometimes we talk about wanting to love the people of ______ (china, cambodia, thailand, taiwan, indonesia). lets not even talk about the people in our oikos(community). But sometimes we have to really think if we have even fulfilled the heartbeat of the mission. The song says that "across the street or around the world, the mission still the same" Mission to love the lord our god, to deepen our devotion to the cross at any price. 2 sam 24:24, david speaking. he said I will not sacrifice that which cost me nothing. it will cost our life, our time, our positions, our gifts. What has it cost me? What has it cost you?. Yes, i've given up alot of things already but if you sincerely ask me if i've a full-time calling. I can't confidently say that i'm willing to give up everything now. Most of the time when we have a time for people to response to their missions calling or full-time calling, the response is great, megalife leadership doesnt know whether we should be ecstatic or worried. Whether people lift up their hands just for the hype of it or in being really genuine. I don't want to enter hypocrisy and say at this point that "God, i'm willing to give up everything" when i'm just not ready yet. Maybe that day will come, maybe some day. maybe 1 year from now, maybe 10 years from now. only god knows. I have to constantly remind myself that inorder to love the people abroad, i have to love the people around me, and to love the people around me, i have to love god!. thats the base of it, all there is to it! =)
